RZR 900 Radiator

Brian Tecklenburg - Tuesday, February 21, 2012

Today's product spotlight is the RZR 900 Radiator.  This product is a replacement radiator for the RZR 900 XP.  Hand made all aluminum Radiator with 3 cores and 2 passes means serious cooling power.  This radiator is developed specifically for the RZR 900 and fits in the stock fan shroud.  This makes the swap out really easy.

The development of this product was based on a few simple observations.  First we noticed that the RZR 800, and the RZR 900 run hot.  Meaning they are in their stock forms not really intended to be run at full speed for long.  For most applications of short trail rides, and slower speeds this is fine, for racing, dune riding, or endurance riding, this simply won't do.  The machine kicks on the fan at 190 degrees, but it doesn't cool off much.  You may have noticed in your RZR that once the fan comes on, it tends to stay on, this means it is at best maintaining a temperature.  This is due to two things.  First, the volume of coolant in the system is too small.  Heat is transfered by mass, so more mass, more heat capacity, more heat capacity, more total energy movement. Second, the surface area of the radiator is small.  The surface area is what allows the heat in the liquid coolant to pass to the ambiant (in in this case fan driven) airflow.  Air can only collect heat at a certain speed.  This means the more surface area of fins and tubes inside a radiator, the more opportunity air has to absorb that heat energy.

The Vent Racing RZR 900 Radiator is more than 3 times the surface area of the stock radiator.  This means more heat transfer, and faster heat transfer.  The Vent Racing 900 Radiator is also twice the capacity of the stock system, so instead of the stock 32 oz system, it is a 64 oz system.  This means it has faster recovery.  The stock system, once hot, stays hot, with the upgraded radiator, RZR's cool off quicker, not needing to sit after hard riding.

Additional benefits to the system are increased power, and longevity.  While a warm engine is good, a HOT engine is bad.  Heat breaks down oil, and engine parts, with enough heat, gaskets and other key components are affected.  Also higher engine temps means higher NOx emissions.  Cooler engine temps on the other hand mean longer oil life, better lubrication, and less wear, not to mention lower emissions.  Hot engines do more than break down the machine though, they also rob you of power.  Power in an engine is produced by a chemical reaction inside the cylinder.  The more molecules of oxygen, and fuel you can fit in the cylinder, the more power you'll get.  Cooler air is more dense, and so is cooler fuel.  Lowering the temperature of your engine to just warm instead of too hot will increase your power along with reliability and longevity.

The Vent Racing RZR 900 XP radiator does more than keep you cool, it is a protection for your investment in the baddest side x side on the market today.

RZR 170 Speedometer

Brian Tecklenburg - Thursday, February 16, 2012

Today's Product spotlight is the RZR 170 Speedometer.  This product is pretty exciting.  As you may know we have created a variety of

products for the 170, mostly performance related.  The most common question that we get is

"How fast will the 170 go with all your stuff on it?" the customer asks.

"Well unfortunately the polaris included sticker doesn't say how fast it goes, but we think about 40ish" we reluctantly answer.

"Well if I spend all this money on my machine, I want to know how fast it goes!" they respond.

So, it is with great excitement that we offer our GPS speedometer.  This beauty fits right where polaris was kind enough to put that oh-so-useful sticker.  Just a hole saw and you're in business.  There are just a few wires to connect for power and this little buddy is ready and accurate, no calibrating for bigger tires or anything.  Here are a few of the features that you might be interested in:

1. Quick acquiring.  This speedo will find a GPS signal in under 2 seconds.  That means it is ready whenever you are.

2. Altimeter.  The LCD screen in the gage face is designed to display a variety of information including elevation.

3. 1/4 mile timer.  This speedo can record all the goodies, 1/4 time, speed, and top speed in a 1/4 mile.

4. Odometer.  Keep track of how far your little buddy goes with two trip meters and a total mileage gage.

5. Top speed.  if you're running the hills, or the flats sometimes you want to know what your max speed was, this age will record it for you

6. average speed.  Yep it records that too,  know what your average is on each of your favorite trails.

The feedback from a speedometer is important to a little one learning how to drive, and pretty gratifying for dad, especially if you've been supping it up all winter long.
